Which DLC Campaigns Are Available?

Easy Red 2 DLC expands your campaign choices from Stalingrad’s Eastern Front battles to the fighting in China and Hungary. Steam has five paid campaign expansions, each adding historical scenarios alongside weapons, vehicles, or other battlefield assets. Pick by the theater you want to fight in and the equipment you want to use.

What Each Expansion Adds

Stalingrad: Soviet Forces and Eastern Front Combat

Stalingrad brings the Soviet Union into the campaign lineup, with Soviet weapons, vehicles, uniforms, and an Eastern Front setting. Its campaign includes 17 missions, mixing infantry engagements with battles involving tanks and aircraft.

The fighting includes Soviet crossings from the Volga River and operations surrounding the German encirclement. That gives the campaign more variety than a continuous run of street battles.

Choose Stalingrad if Soviet equipment and Eastern Front scenarios are your main interests. For PC mission builders, its Eastern European buildings and props also expand the settings you can create.

Normandy: D-Day and the Western Front

Normandy covers the landings and the battles that followed, with missions playable from Allied and Axis perspectives. Canadian forces are part of its appeal, alongside additional Western Front vehicles, including Sherman variants.

The beach assaults give this expansion a distinct focus: advancing across exposed ground toward defended positions. Use both sides of the campaign to experience the difference between attacking a landing zone and trying to hold it.

Version 2.1.1 also reworks several Normandy farm buildings and their textures. Those changes matter when comparing the campaign with impressions of its earlier appearance.

Ardennes 1940 & 1944: Two Periods in One Pack

Ardennes combines the Invasion of France with the Battle of the Bulge. You get early-war fighting and a winter campaign in the same purchase, with French forces and additional equipment helping distinguish the two settings.

Vehicle combat is a particular draw. The Bulge missions include substantial armored engagements, while the France campaign brings a different selection of early-war tanks and weapons.

Choose this pack if you want Western Front battles with a strong vehicle component. Both campaigns come together; buying the France and Bulge portions separately is unnecessary.

Shanghai - Nanking: Two Campaigns in China

Shanghai - Nanking moves the fighting to China in 1937, adding Chinese forces along with weapons, uniforms, vehicles, and environment assets.

The Shanghai campaign includes 15 missions, while Nanking has nine. Shanghai also features a warehouse defense with a scripted scenario, giving the expansion an encounter that stands apart from a straightforward advance through capture objectives.

For PC map makers, the buildings, signs, and smaller scenery details are another reason to consider this pack. Use those assets for Chinese settings where their architecture and signage fit the battlefield.

Blood on the Danube: Hungary’s Closing Battles

Blood on the Danube covers three campaigns: the Siege of Budapest, Operation Konrad, and Operation Spring Awakening. Its 35 maps move between urban fighting and open armored engagements, with Hungary and Romania joining the represented nations.

The equipment additions include 40 vehicles and 25 weapons. Highlights include IS-2 heavy tanks, OT-34 flamethrower tanks, Soviet ROKS flamethrowers, Hungarian firearms, and an StG equipped with ZG1229 night vision.

Choose this expansion if late-war armor and the battles around Budapest are what you want to explore. Its mix of streets, trenches, and snowy battlefields provides several settings for that equipment.

The Steam promotion reduces its price from $7.99 to $6.39 through November 15.

Buying on PC or Console

Buy each expansion through the store for your platform. Release dates differ between versions: Normandy launched on Steam on June 6, 2023, while its Xbox release followed on February 16, 2024.

On Xbox, Normandy costs $5.99 and requires the base game, sold separately. It supports Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and is also included in Easy Red 2: All Fronts. Compare the bundle’s included content with the expansions you already own before purchasing the Normandy expansion for Xbox.

The Steam version supports:

  • Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Single-player, online co-op, and online PvP.
  • Cross-platform multiplayer.
  • Full controller support.

The map editor and modding tools are PC exclusive. Campaign packs therefore have an additional use on PC: their assets can become part of custom scenarios.

Check the required expansion when choosing a custom mission. In version 2.1.1, editor items belonging to DLC you do not own are skipped, and a message appears in the F3 console. Owning a campaign’s map or mission file does not supply its missing DLC assets.

What Version 2.1.1 Adds Beyond the Paid Campaigns

Battles of Khalkhin Gol arrived with version 2.1.1, “Cold Steel.” It contains nine missions set during the 1939 conflict, following the fighting from border clashes to major armored operations across Mongolia’s grasslands.

Mongolia and Manchukuo join the represented factions with their own voices, uniforms, and equipment. The missions include fighting around Bain-Tsagan Hill and the Soviet counteroffensives.

The same update introduces several systems worth exploring between historical campaigns:

  • Dynamic Operations prototype: Capture zones to earn victory points and reinforcement tickets, then spend tickets on better-equipped units.
  • Reproducible battle generation: Reuse the same seed to reproduce a Dynamic Operations battlefield.
  • In-hand melee combat: Selected bayonets and Japanese Gunto weapons support dedicated melee actions, including attacks and blocking.
  • Japanese grenade discharger: The Type 89 adds portable indirect fire with adjustable range.

Use a matching seed when you want to revisit a Dynamic Operations battlefield. For Japanese infantry support, issue artillery orders to grenadiers carrying the grenade discharger; their AI can respond to those orders.

Khalkhin Gol is already part of the released update, so it belongs on your playable campaign list.

Iwo Jima’s Planned Release

Iwo Jima is scheduled for December 2026. Its setting shifts toward close infantry fighting among volcanic terrain, black sand, and extensive tunnels.

Planned locations include Hills 362A, B and C, Charlie Dog Ridge, The Bloody Gorge, Cushmans' Pocket, and Hill 165. Mount Suribachi is designed to include a tunnel system connecting sea level with the summit.

Keep Iwo Jima separate from the five released paid expansions when planning purchases. Follow the Easy Red 2 official website for its release announcements.
