What Does the Normandy DLC Include?

The landing beaches are only part of the fight in Easy Red 2 Normandy. This expansion adds 20 missions covering coastal assaults, airborne operations, and the advance inland, giving you several ways to experience the campaign. Its throwable hooks, US Airborne and US Rangers uniforms, and additional battlefield assets bring changes beyond a new set of maps.

Normandy uses the base game's squad combat, weapon handling, and combined-arms systems. Infantry share the battlefield with armored vehicles and aircraft, while squad orders let you direct AI soldiers through the fighting. You need Easy Red 2 to play the expansion; the DLC is an additional campaign purchase.

Beaches, Airborne Operations, and Inland Battles

The campaign includes the D-Day landings on Omaha, Utah, Sword, Juno, and Gold beaches. That gives Normandy a broader scope than a single American beach assault, with British and Canadian participation alongside US operations.

Omaha brings exposed approaches, fortified positions, and trench fighting into the same mission. Moving off the beach is only one part of the assault: reaching the defenses puts you into much tighter engagements around bunkers and connected positions.

Airborne operations change the setting and pace. Parachute insertions put you behind the coastal battle, where regrouping your squad and moving between objectives become the immediate priorities. Pegasus Bridge also appears in the mission selection.

The campaign extends inland toward Carentan, Caen, and Saint-Lô. Those locations give you reasons to keep playing beyond the landings, particularly if you want Normandy fighting that includes towns and countryside.

Pointe du Hoc Hooks and New Uniforms

Pointe du Hoc introduces one of the expansion's distinctive mechanics: throwable hooks for scaling the cliffs. Vertical movement becomes part of the assault, connecting the terrain directly to the equipment you use.

Use the hooks to climb the cliffs during the Pointe du Hoc mission. Once you reach the top, regroup before pushing onward so your squad can support the next engagement.

The expansion also adds US Airborne and US Rangers uniforms. These give the airborne and cliff-assault elements their own visual identity within the wider campaign.

On PC, Normandy contributes over 100 props, buildings, and bunkers to the Map and Mission Editor. Most support destruction, giving custom scenarios environments that can change during combat. When building a mission, account for destructible cover rather than assuming every defensive position will remain intact.

Combat Tips for the Normandy Missions

The campaign draws on the same systems as the rest of Easy Red 2, so squad control and equipment management deserve as much attention as shooting.

  • Give movement orders before advancing. Use your squad commands to bring AI soldiers toward the position you intend to attack.
  • Use smoke to help cover exposed movement. On beach assaults, place it between your approach and the defenders rather than spending it after reaching cover.
  • Match your weapon to the engagement. Switch away from a scoped rifle when entering tight trenches if you have a more manageable close-range option.
  • Regroup after an airborne landing. Bring your soldiers together before moving toward the next objective.
  • Reassess cover after explosions. Destructible buildings and battlefield objects can change the protection available along your route.

For offline play, adjust the difficulty while learning the weapon and squad systems. On PlayStation, offline gameplay also supports pausing, giving you time to step away between engagements.

Normandy Changes in Update 2.1.1

The November 1, 2026 “Cold Steel” 2.1.1 update includes changes relevant to returning Normandy players.

NormandyFarm4 and NormandyFarm5 received reworks, along with several buildings on Normandy farm maps. US paratrooper uniforms also received minor fixes.

The wider update improves bipod placement, including firing prone on steep terrain, and makes furniture placed in missions destructible. Tables, chairs, shelves, and similar objects can therefore react differently during fighting inside buildings.

These changes update existing environments and combat systems. Normandy's campaign remains centered on its 20 missions.
