Easy Red 2 Achievements Guide: Survive Every Campaign

Losing your current soldier doesn’t necessarily end a campaign survival attempt. This Easy Red 2 achievements guide explains the crucial respawn-screen rule, how infantry squad merging helps keep a run alive, and how to organize your completion attempts. Understanding that distinction can save you from abandoning a campaign you can still finish successfully.

How Campaign Survival Achievements Work

For campaign survival achievements, the critical failure point is returning to the respawn screen. Your controlled soldier can die without ending the attempt, provided you can continue through another member of your squad.

That makes your surviving squad members more important than your personal kill count. Watch how many soldiers remain available, and avoid leaving your last soldier stranded far from friendly infantry.

Keep these achievement targets in mind:

  • 36 Steam achievements make up the game’s Steam achievement list.
  • A Day Survival is the Anzio campaign survival achievement.

Use Infantry Squad Merging

When every other member of your squad is dead, approaching another friendly infantry squad automatically joins you to that squad. You can then switch between its members.

Use that mechanic to maintain access to replacement soldiers:

  1. Keep track of your remaining squad members during combat.
  2. When you become the last survivor, locate nearby friendly infantry.
  3. Move toward them using terrain and cover.
  4. Once you join their squad, keep those soldiers within reach of your next move.

Automatic merging applies to infantry squads. Walking up to a tank, aircraft, or artillery crew will not merge you into that crew.

Campaign Survival Achievements to Target

Build your campaign checklist around the exact achievement you want before starting a survival attempt.

AchievementHow to unlock
A Day SurvivalComplete the Anzio campaign without returning to the respawn screen.
The Longest DayComplete Operation Overlord without returning to the respawn screen.
Not One Step BackComplete Stalingrad without returning to the respawn screen.

Keep your platform’s achievement list open when planning DLC campaign runs. Steam and Xbox achievement coverage differs, so use the targets displayed on the platform where you are playing.

During each mission, prioritize maintaining a playable squad over chasing extra kills. If your infantry group is nearly gone, move toward friendly replacements before taking another exposed firing position.

Choose Roles That Reduce Your Exposure

Play as a marksman when you want to contribute without repeatedly entering close combat. Use distance and terrain to keep enemies away while staying close enough to friendly infantry to reach another squad when necessary.

Choose the attacking side for survival attempts to give yourself more opportunities to remain behind the immediate fighting. Avoid rushing an objective simply because friendly units have begun advancing.

Vehicle crews offer another option. Consider aircraft if you already know the flight controls; tanks still put you close to ground fighting. Practice vehicle handling before making it part of a survival run, and remember that automatic infantry merging will not place you into a vehicle crew.

Keep Close-Quarters Fighting Under Control

Version 2.1.1 introduced the new in-hand melee system, including bayonets used as knives and dedicated melee weapons. Enemy AI can draw melee weapons at close range, including when their firearms are empty.

Keep your distance from an enemy who stops shooting. Reload behind cover, and avoid closing in on an apparently vulnerable soldier during a survival attempt.

Plan Your Full Completion Order

Organize your attempts around learning the game’s systems before committing to campaign survival:

  1. Review your platform’s achievement descriptions. Separate campaign survival targets from achievements requiring other actions, and identify which campaigns you need access to.
  2. Practice the relevant controls in training. Learn movement, equipment use, and the infantry or vehicle roles you intend to play.
  3. Learn campaign routes before attempting survival. Pay attention to cover, exposed approaches, and where friendly infantry gathers.
  4. Complete your survival targets with squad continuity in mind. Use marksmen or familiar vehicle roles, monitor surviving soldiers, and move toward friendly infantry when you are alone.
  5. Return to the remaining achievement descriptions. Choose your next task by its stated requirement, then use the appropriate role and equipment rather than trying to finish every objective through ordinary rifle combat.
