How to Unlock Special Loadouts
Easy Red 2 special loadouts give you named soldiers with fixed equipment, including weapon combinations you won’t normally spawn with. Collecting a golden dog tag unlocks its soldier permanently, but you only get one chance to deploy a selected special soldier per mission. That makes collecting the tag and choosing when to use the loadout two separate decisions.
Golden dog tags belong to specific soldiers who appear during particular phases of particular missions. You can collect them from fallen friendly or enemy soldiers.
To unlock a character:
- Enter the mission containing the soldier whose dog tag you want.
- Reach the phase in which that soldier appears.
- Locate the soldier’s body.
- Interact directly with the body to collect the golden dog tag.
Opening the inventory to loot equipment does not collect the tag. Use the direct body interaction before moving on.
The dog tag marker is visible only at relatively close range. Move closer to bodies when searching instead of relying on a marker to stand out across the battlefield.
Map Restrictions Matter
Unlock availability follows the official map and the soldier’s faction. Campaign names alone can be misleading:
- Kwajalein and Roi-Namur have separate loadouts, even though both belong to Operation Flintlock.
- Operation Konrad and Operation Spring Awakening share loadouts through the Lake Balaton map.
- Custom missions can use these characters when they use the same official map.
Check the map when an unlocked soldier doesn’t appear where you expect.

How to Select a Soldier and Keep the Unlock
Before starting a mission, select the named soldier you want available. That character appears attached to an infantry squad in the unit selection menu.

Select the character directly to spawn as them. Their presence in the squad menu doesn’t mean they automatically enter the battle as an AI soldier.
The deployment rules are:
- You can bring one special soldier into a mission.
- You get one spawn as that soldier during that mission.
- If the soldier dies, you cannot respawn as them in the same round.
- The unlock stays saved, and you can select the soldier again in a later round.
Death therefore costs you that mission’s deployment, rather than the collected character.
Each soldier keeps a fixed uniform and equipment set across eligible missions. Depending on rank, a special character can also take command ahead of the squad’s generic leader.
Sniper Loadouts: Scoped Rifles With Unusual Backups
Stalingrad includes several named marksmen whose secondary weapons differ substantially from a standard pistol. These are separate characters with distinct equipment, so pay attention to the name when selecting one.

| Soldier | Map | Primary Weapon | Secondary Weapon |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vasily Kvachantiradze | Stalingrad | SVT-40 | Obrez Pistol |
| Maksim Passar | Stalingrad | Sniper Mosin-Nagant M1891/30 (PE scope) | MP 40 |
| Erwin Konig | Stalingrad | Karabinier 98k (ZF39 optics) | MP 41 |
| Josef Rölleke | Lake Balaton | Karabinier 98k (ZF39 optics) | MP 41 |
Vasily Kvachantiradze is the Soviet sniper carrying the Obrez, a shortened Mosin used in place of a conventional sidearm. His SVT-40 has a scope, and his dog tag can be found in the first Stalingrad mission.
Maksim Passar carries a scoped Mosin-Nagant and an MP 40 instead. Choose him if you want that rifle-and-submachine-gun combination rather than the SVT-40 and Obrez pairing.
Keep the one-spawn restriction in mind when deploying a sniper. Use cover while moving into position, and avoid spending the character’s only life crossing exposed ground to investigate a dog tag marker.
Automatic Weapon Loadouts: Fixed Kits Across Factions
Some named soldiers carry automatic weapons paired with another long gun. Others offer distinctive attachments or captured equipment.

| Soldier | Map | Primary Weapon | Secondary Weapon |
|---|---|---|---|
| Audie Murphy | Anzio | MG 42 (no bipod) | M1 Carbine |
| Heinrich Flugelman | Anzio | FG 42/I (ZF4 optics, bayonet, bipod) | Luger P.08 |
| Yamagata Masaji | Kwajalein | Type 97 Automatic Cannon (Bipod) | Type 38 Rifle (No bayonet) |
| James Roosevelt II | Makin | M1941 Johnson LMG (Bipod) | Colt M1911A1 |
| Anton 'Toni' Ameiser | Budapest | FG 42/II (Scope and bayonet detached) | MP 40 |
Audie Murphy’s tag is associated with Breakout: Clearing Cisterna. Sylvester Antolak also appears in that mission’s unlock list, carrying an M1 Thompson without a secondary weapon. Check the soldier’s name rather than assuming any tag collected there grants Murphy’s kit.
James Roosevelt II’s unlock mission is Red Beach Invasion on Makin.
For equipment variety, Heinrich Flugelman’s kit includes more than his scoped FG 42/I: he also carries a droppable ammunition box, bandages, and throwables. Audie Murphy’s MG 42, by comparison, specifically lacks a bipod. Check those attachment differences before planning around a deployed firing position.
Anti-Tank Loadouts: Launchers Alongside Infantry Weapons
Several special characters combine a firearm with an anti-tank weapon. Their equipment is fixed, so select the named soldier carrying the combination you want.
| Soldier | Map | Primary Weapon | Secondary Weapon |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fritz Fullriede | Tunisia: South | Gewehr 41(W) | M1A1 Bazooka |
| Paul Reißmann | Budapest | StG 44 | Panzerfaust 100 (Green) |
| Galaktion Alpaidze | Lake Balaton | SVT-40 (PU Scope & Bayonet detached) | Panzerfaust 100 (Yellow) |
| Hellmuth Becker | Lake Balaton | PPSh-41 | Panzerfaust 100 (Green) |
| Georg Hurdelbrink | Lake Balaton | MP 38 | RPzB 54 'Panzerschreck' |
Fritz Fullriede pairs a German rifle with an American bazooka. On Lake Balaton, the choices include rifle-and-Panzerfaust, submachine-gun-and-Panzerfaust, and MP 38-and-Panzerschreck combinations.
Choose the complete kit around the weapons you intend to use. A character carrying a launcher still has the same single deployment limit as every other special soldier.
Weapon Handling Changes in Update 2.1.1
Update 2.1.1, “Cold Steel,” changes handling details for weapons carried by several named characters.
| Weapon | Update 2.1.1 Change |
|---|---|
| FG 42/I | Fixed stripper clip reloading, including ammunition count and clip visibility |
| FG 42/II | No longer accepts stripper clip reloads |
| SVT-40 | Reworked first-person animations while retaining the same timings; improved idle and scope positions and fixed bullet visibility during reloads |
Distinguish the two FG 42 variants when selecting a character. Heinrich Flugelman carries the FG 42/I, while Anton 'Toni' Ameiser carries the FG 42/II, so the reload changes apply differently to their kits.
For Vasily Kvachantiradze’s SVT-40, the animation changes retain the existing timings. Keep your reload timing expectations while getting used to the revised weapon and scope positioning.
